Make your own dried fruit decorations

dried fruit decorations

An easy way to make the house smell festive and create some decorations are these lovely dried fruit decorations! Easy to make and inexpensive too. If you have fruit that’s going a little bad, then these are the perfect low waste option!

You can use any citrus fruit, we used lemons, limes and oranges to make ours. The limes and lemons did take a little longer than the oranges though, so bear that in mind when making.

We added ours alongside some pine cones to our advent wreath. They smell amazing and look great (even if you do overcook some of them a little!) You can also string them or add wire to them to hang as tree decorations, or add to your Christmas wreath.

What you’ll need:

Orange

Lemon

Lime

Your favourite festive spices, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg – we sprinkled cinnamon onto the orange slices, ginger on the limes and nutmeg on the lemons.

Instructions:

  • Slice your fruit and lay flat on a baking tray
  • Sprinkle some of the ground spices over the top
  • Bake on 120 degrees for approx 2-3 hours depending on your oven (check after 1 hour and then every 30 minutes until ready)

Once cooled you can add string or wire and hang on your tree, add cinnamon sticks and a few different slices to create a layered decoration.

That’s your dried fruit decorations done! Tag us in your pics on Instagram if you give this a go.
