Books for Communities

At Eco-Able we recognise that giving back to communities is important to us and many other individuals and businesses we meet. We also love to champion reading in all its forms.

Here you’ll find information about some of the campaigns we’re running to give books to children, families and communities, to help with literacy, love of reading, introduction to important topics and provide resources for free. We work in partnership with others to make this happen.

Remember Reading Project

2026 is the Year of Reading and we want to help foster a lifelong love of reading.

2026 is the Year of Reading and we want to encourage children and grown ups alike to pick up a book and to remember what they love about reading.

Through our project, we’ll be interviewing people about their love of reading and hoping to inspire us all to read a bit more and to put away our digital devices to connect with books and stories again.

We know the power of stories and want to foster a lifelong love of reading from baby to adulthood, whether that’s through books, magazines or any type of reading materials.

If you’d like to get involved in our ‘Remember Reading’ project and add your voice to our interviews, then you can download the question sheets (which also come with a book journal page) and either send these to us in video form, voice note or as written word and we’ll share your thoughts about reading.

You can send us an email to find out more here: info@eco-able.co.uk

The Children's Book Project

2026 is the Year of Reading and we want to help foster a lifelong love of reading.

2026 is the Year of Reading and we want to play our part to enable more children to have access to good quality books of their own.

“Around one million children in the UK do not own a single book of their own,” The Children’s Book Project.

2025 saw the charity launch ‘One Million Stories’ which aims to give “more than 125,000 children across 1,000 schools and community groups the chance to choose, and take home, pre-loved and surplus books” and we want to be a part of that.

“Book ownership has been directly linked with improved mental health amongst children and a greater propensity to read for pleasure, whilst reading fluency itself has a significant impact on children’s successful progression through education. By age eleven, there is a 12-month language development gap between children from book rich homes books and those with fewer than ten books.” (Statistics – Book ownership in 2022’ © National Literacy Trust 2022).

We will be working with business partners to donate a total of 600 of our brand new books to disadvantaged children this year. 100 will be directly funded by us with the remainder funded in partnership with businesses across the country.

We passionately believe that all children should have access to and ownership of good quality books.

The Children’s Book Project get books directly into children’s hands, also giving them autonomy in book choice through a variety of initiatives such as “groups that support vulnerable mothers of babies under one-year, young people in reform institutions, food bank users and (indirectly) children with a parent in prison.”

We have 600 books funded to be delivered!

Books for Christmas

In 2025 we donated 150 books to Gloucestershire bundles.

At Christmas giving the gift of reading to children who might not otherwise have access to books of their own is a real privilege.

Gloucestershire Bundles is a charity providing emergency packs of toiletries, clothing and equipment to pregnant women and families with children up to the age of 16, who find themselves in crisis situations.

In 2025 we donated 150 new books for children this Christmas to support the families and children who would otherwise not have access to new books.

According to the Children’s Book Project, “Book ownership has been directly linked with improved mental health amongst children and a greater propensity to read for pleasure, whilst reading fluency itself has a significant impact on children’s successful progression through education. By age eleven, there is a 12-month language development gap between children from book rich homes books and those with fewer than ten books.” (Statistics – Book ownership in 2022’ © National Literacy Trust 2022).

Thanks to our local businesses partners who are helped us to fund the books for Gloucestershire bundles:

Thank you to all of our business partners for their continued support.

Books for Libraries Campaign

Our books for libraries campaign was about getting books into libraries for families to access without a cost.

We wanted to give something back and to support our local libraries up and down the UK. So we launched our books for libraries campaign, where we gave packs of our award winning sustainable storybook ‘Away’ to libraries working with businesses (or individuals) who have supported this.

In 2022-2024 our award winning storybook ‘Away’ was loaned 333 times through Gloucestershire libraries (from our previous donations of copies to them) averaging 167 loans per year and it has made us want to do more! Imagine more children and families being able to access our book and learn about sustainability together!

We successfully completed donations in two areas and have now had to pause the campaign.

Read about it in the press HERE.

We have successfully donated books to both Wiltshire and Gloucestershire libraries and welcome libraries to get in touch with us if they are interested in receiving donations.

We commit to supporting local communities across the UK through these initiatives, which give something back.
