Halloween can be waste-fuelled, so here are our less waste Halloween costume tips to help keep things simple and sustainable!
Costume swap with your friends and family – last year’s costume might work for someone else and vice versa
Choose Halloween onesies or even pyjamas for your costumes, that way they can be worn on Halloween and the rest of the year for bedtimes!
Size up! Go a bit bigger so that the costume lasts for a couple of years, if it’s a bit too long, then simply sew the hems higher or use something like bondaweb to fix it in place temporarily.
Make your own masks – not only does this make a great addition to any costume, it also provides a craft activity for the whole family to get stuck into!
Upcycle materials you already have – use materials you have to create your costumes, a pillowcase makes a great tunic base, simply cut spaces for arms and head and add decorations to create your unique costume, the kids can get involved in this too.
