Less waste Halloween costume tips

5 less waste Halloween costume tips

Halloween can be waste-fuelled, so here are our less waste Halloween costume tips to help keep things simple and sustainable!

1 Costume swap with your friends and family – last year’s costume might work for someone else and vice versa

2 Choose Halloween onesies or even pyjamas for your costumes, that way they can be worn on Halloween and the rest of the year for bedtimes!

3 Size up! Go a bit bigger so that the costume lasts for a couple of years, if it’s a bit too long, then simply sew the hems higher or use something like bondaweb to fix it in place temporarily.

4 Make your own masks – not only does this make a great addition to any costume, it also provides a craft activity for the whole family to get stuck into!

5 Upcycle materials you already have – use materials you have to create your costumes, a pillowcase makes a great tunic base, simply cut spaces for arms and head and add decorations to create your unique costume, the kids can get involved in this too.
