‘About Hedgehog’ children’s book is a really important book about bereavement and grief for young children. Designed to help them and those supporting them through such a difficult time. From multi award winning author and Eco-Able founder, Dani Seatter and with illustrations by Anna Stead from Thistlemoon, this book adds to a ‘must have’ book selection for purposeful books.

We understand how important it is to have the right tools to deal with grief and for young children, it can be a really confusing and difficult time. This storybook tells the story of Rabbit, who is looking for their friend Hedgehog and asks questions about this to the other animals. Initially reluctant to talk about Hedgehog’s death, Badger and the other animals realise that Rabbit needs to have their questions answered. Supporting Rabbit in beginning to process what has happened. This gentle story is designed help children, adults, including parents, practitioners and therapists to begin those all important conversations. It allows children to go at their own pace and at a level of understanding that is right for them.

With a question section at the back of the book and a memories section to allow children to add their own thoughts to the book. For further support there’s a resource page with links to Grief Encounter. This book will enable children and carers to begin to talk about grief, death and what that means in a gentle and open way.

This is a book designed to be gentle to the planet as well as telling a gentle tale. Suitable for children aged 3-10 years old approximately.
