How to make reusable fabric Christmas crackers

You will need:

Fabric etc

Step 1

Cut a piece of A4 card into three equal pieces

Step 2

Cut your tissue paper sheet or sheets into three equal pieces down the long edges. The cut your crowns into your preferred shape. Measure around your own head or your child’s and then glue the edges together and leave to dry. Once dry, these can be neatly folded.

Step 3

Cut out your joke sheet. Or if you are making your own up write them onto paper or card.

Step 4

Write your name tags for each person.

Step 5

Start with the long edge of your piece of fabric and lay one of the pieces of your cut card into the middle. Tuck your edges under to give a neat finish and then add your joke, hat and gift or gifts. Roll your cracker carefully and then tuck the fabric at the other end so you have a neat edge there too. Rest on the folded edge.

Step 6

Carefully tie your string or twine or ribbon around each end, feeling for where the end of the card is and tying there. Tie into a bow for easy opening by your recipient.

Step 7

Post one end of the ribbon through the name tag and tie in a bow around the middle of your cracker.

Step 8

Congratulations you have completed your first cracker, now repeat each step until you have made them all and pop them away until Christmas Day!
